Zusammenfassung: | Whether Hitler suffered from Parkinson's disease during the final years of his life has been a topic of controversy in medical literature. A systematic neurological analysis of Hitler's motor functions in documentary films from 1933 to 1945 reveals the gradual development of a classic Parkinson syndrome since mid-1941. This finding corresponds to various statements by Hitler's doctors and other contemporaries based on archive material, memoirs and personal interviews. According to systematic differential diagnosis, Hitler suffered from an obviously idiopathic variant of Parkinson's disease. Detailed analysis of Hitler's basic psychic functions based on written and oral sources show there were no distinct psychic disorders caused by the disease. Different views held by other authors are discussed. |
