Zusammenfassung: | While localisation of modern integrated steel-mills in capitalist industrial nations is tending to the coasts, most of those mills in developing countries have been founded in the interior near energy and material resources. Although such projects often fail in purely economic terms, they are an important political means for interior development, to extend self-sufficiency and independance and, last not least, they are psychologically important prestige symbols, a strategy which has its own logic. The specific problems which may occur in those projects are demonstrated by two case-studies in Iran and Colombia. |
