Zusammenfassung:This paper aim is to analyze the short story "Nero", which is part of the work Bichos by Miguel Torga, following the hermeneutic method. In a first moment, some emphasis is given to the relations between the man, the environment, and the work of the poet from Trás-os-Montes who gives voice, to the tellus mater through his writing. In a second instance, the focus of this work is on the questions of finitude and the meaning of life, which involve responsibility, freedom, goals setting, and personal choices.
