Zusammenfassung:The first and second editions of Fra Giocondo’s Vitruvius contain two very different illustrations of the Tower of the Winds in Athens, both crowned by a winged and cuirassed figure. In the second edition, the lower part of the tower is made up of various funerary and architectural elements from classical antiquity, inspired by similar painted monuments that existed in Venice in the Quattrocento.
