A Homomorphism of Harish-Chandra and Direct Images of D-Modules

Harish-Chandra defined a homomorphism δ: D(g)G→ D(h)Wof algebras of invariant polynomial differential operators. The construction and existence of δ are somewhat mysterious. We show how δ naturally arises when one considers matters in the context of D-modules.
