NARRATIVAS EN TORNO A LAS CRISIS HÍDRICAS EN SÃO PAULO Y LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

La escasez de agua potable, los deficientes mecanismos de alcantarillado y saneamiento tienen fuertes repercusiones en la vida cotidiana de miles de ciudadanos en toda América Latina. La situación se vuelve más compleja para quienes habitan en las periferias de las ciudades, espacios sociales donde la deficiente calidad de los servicios públicos (agua, alcantarillado, saneamiento, energía eléctrica, pavimentación) es la expresión más evidente de la segregación socioterritorial. En este artículo quedan expuestas las implicaciones de los recurrentes periodos de crisis hídrica en los hábitos, rutinas y percepciones entre los ciudadanos de que habitan en regiones periféricas São Paulo y la Ciudad de México. The shortage of drinking water, the poor sewage and sanitation mechanisms have a strong impact on the daily lives of thousands of citizens throughout Latin America. The situation becomes more complex for those who live in the peripheries of cities, social spaces where the poor quality of public services (water, sewage, sanitation, electrical energy, paving) is the most obvious expression of socio-territorial segregation. In this the implications of the recurring periods of water crisis on the habits, routines and perceptions among citizens living in peripheral regions of São Paulo and Mexico City are exposed.
