Interventi e progetti di sistemazione della pianta marmorea severiana negli anni della Commissione Archeologica Municipale (1872-1924)

This paper focuses on several decades of activities of the Commissione Archeologica Municipale as revealed by the archival material of the Musei Capitolini and the Archivio Storico Capitolino (1873-1923). It encompasses every issue concerning the Severan marble plan that was dealt with by the Commissione, such as restorations, display projects and scholarly researches. The presented material offers a better understanding of the issues involved and reveals how many of the proposed solutions regarding the display of the marble plan are still relevant today. In addition, the exposition makes it possible to read between the lines an important chapter of the history of the Musei Capitolini.
