Zusammenfassung: | This study, premised a synthesis on the main orientations of Franciscan philosophy and theology, focuses initially on the difficulty for the Franciscan academy to find acceptance both in the Roman university panorama, deployed in favor of Thomism, and within its own Order, marked by pauperistic tendencies vitiated by anti-intellectualism. It goes on to dwell on the gradual loss of autonomy of the same Franciscan academy, whose scholarly purpose is subordinated to pastoral and missionary function. Next it focuses on the stakeholders, who apply themselves to sponsoring its promotion to a Pontifical Athenaeum, also by offering services to the Roman curia, thus demonstrating the new ecclesial dimension of the Franciscan university. The conclusion of the study is dedicated to the further development of the university, including the opportunities offered to it by the publication of the encyclical Laudato si’. |
