Zusammenfassung:The hypogeum of the Octavii is an underground tomb, found in 1921 nearby the 9ᵗʰ km of thevia Trionfale, as one of the major monuments of the northern Suburb of Rome. The outstanding nature of this tomb, probably dating back to the first half of the 3ʳᵈ century, is demonstrated by its whole discovery context, comprehending the interesting figural repertoire of the wall-paintings, dedicated to themes of the after-life illustrated in a childish manner, and of the relief decorating four sarcophagi found in the burial chamber. This paper analyses the monument in his unity, integrating the information with the data available in literature and in the archive documentation.
