Zusammenfassung: | From 1998 archaeological investigations have been conducted in Trajan's Forum, in the area of the monastery of Saint Urbain. During the excavation, 34 silver coins and 3 tankards were found, dating from the 16ᵗʰ century (us 2379). This article focuses on the 16ᵗʰ century coins, which represent several Italian realities. In fact, they were issued by different mints, such as Benevello, Piacenza, Ravenna, Siena, Ancona, Camerino, Pesaro, Perugia, Roma. Moreover, they are characterized by very different values: 1½giulio, 1giulio, ½giulio, 2mezzi paoli, 28grossiand 1parpagliola. Most part of these coins must have been issued between 1513 and 1550 and, probably, they began to be hoarded in the first fourth of the 16ᵗʰ century. The geographical diversification and the different values attested well represent the vivacity of Rome, reborn after the devastations of 1527. |
