Profiles in Transatlantic Cooperation

At no point in history has cooperation across the Atlantic seemed as vital as it does now in the area of climate policy, with the global community looking towards Europe and North America for leadership and guidance. But such cooperation does not occur in abstract terms between states and their governments - it manifests itself in the countless activities of farsighted individuals and institutions in government and civil society, in think tanks and academia, in the media and in the private sector. Here is where we should look for the future direction of transatlantic initiatives; and as the following profiles of relevant actors suggest, such initiatives will be vibrant, creative, and mutually enriching. Above all, they will help foster greater understanding across what has for several years seemed an insurmountable transatlantic divide.
