In tale contesto si situa il Progetto RUBIA (ICA 3-2002-1055): Circum Mediterranean ethnobotanical and ethnographic heritage in traditional technologies, tools and use of wild and neglected cultivated plants for food, medicine, textiles, dying and handicrafts, al quale partecipa, assieme ad altri sette partners, l'Università di Firenze. The European Union gives a great importance to the Traditional Knowledge of member Countries and of Countries along the Mediterranean coast. One of the aims of the INCOMED project is to promote the creation and maintenance of museums for the preservation of what is considered to be the traditional knowledge of the various member states.
