Zusammenfassung:The maps illustrate the possible extent of the 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone in the polar regions. They also show the 500 m and 2,500 m isobaths as they relate to prospective economic zones. Equidistance lines are shown between countries, and where negotiated maritime boundaries exist these too are shown. The maps and accompanying text indicate where disputes may eventually arise over maritime jurisdictions as nations begin claiming sovereignty over offshore areas.
