Zusammenfassung:This paper describes a study conducted to determine the economic feasibility of a project for producing and burning refuse-derived fuel RDF in the District of Columbia. Alternate modes of processing, transporting, handling and burning RDF were considered. The study concluded that it is economically feasible to implement the project and identifies the most cost-effective approach for utilization of existing capital facilities. The study can possibly serve as a model for implementation of this form of energy recovery elsewhere.
