Zusammenfassung: | The National Park Service contracts biological inventories in national parks across the country. Using a variety of field methods, a two-year survey of nonvolant mammal species was conducted at Kings Mountain National Military Park in Cherokee and York Counties, South Carolina. Previous unpublished survey data of the park are also presented. Twenty-one species of non-volant mammals, representing a baseline of information for this park, were documented. Low abundances of mammals may be the result of the homogenous forest habitat and/or prescribed burning during the growing season. More research is needed for sound conservation and management of mammal populations. |
