Zusammenfassung: | Many cytogenetic abnormalities are described from Festuca-Lolium hybrids. Some have not been reported before, notably extra spindles in meiotic interphase and second telophase, and the formation of secondary cells from syncytes. Many of the abnormalities prevent the formation of normal gametes and thus contribute to the sterility of the species. Previous work, however, has shown that this is largely due to genic imbalance in the hybrids. |
