Zusammenfassung: | This study was conducted to determine the effect of growth periods, harvest index, and biomass on grain yield of wheat and to estimate the inheritance of these characters. In this research, the highest value of heritability was found for plant height, while the lowest value of heritability was found for grain yield. The coefficient of variability for biomass and grain yield was higher than other traits. Grain yield was positively correlated with grain filling period, plant height, biomass, harvest index, while it was negatively correlated with days to heading. As the results of this study it was concluded that the selection criterion for improving the grain yield of common wheat under Mediterranean climatic conditions should include high biomass yield with high harvest index. |
