THE YOUTH MOVEMENT AS AN AGENT OF COMMUNAL INTEGRATION / תנועת הנוער כמכשיר לקירוב עדות

The research deals with attitudes among members of youth movements from different ethnic communities. In the light of existing theories, the work attempted to test the ways of bringing different ethnic communities together. In the framework of the empirical research, a team of scouts was formed in Haifa's lower city, composed of youth of different communities. Sociometric testing of the group members revealed that the youth movement can play an important role in integrating the youth of western and oriental communities. The experiment proved that it is possible to unite children of different communities when the emphasis is on general national subjects.
