The text below reads: 'USN Submarine Growler. Reproduced from a painting and presented by Capt. W.M. Downes USN, to Evans Deakin and Co. Limited, in appreciation of their work in prefabricating and fitting a new bow as the result of damage sustained in action in World War II'.
