Miradas y debates sobre la violencia franquista

En los últimos años ha visto la luz un número importante de monografías que ponen de manifiesto la vigencia de la violencia franquista en la historiografía española y extranjera. Aparte del rigor cuantitativo y del afán por ofrecer un balance sobre el número de víctimas, estos trabajos ofrecen una continuidad con las líneas de renovación que el tema había experimentado en la última década. Asimismo, han entrado en escena nuevos debates, derivados del interés por comparar con otras experiencias europeas coetáneas, así como por analizar la violencia de la dictadura de Franco a la luz de categorías utilizadas para otros episodios violentos del siglo XX. In the last few years, several monographies on the Francoist violence have been released. Their appearance evidences that the bloodshed carried out by military rebels during the Spanish Civil War and postwar is still relevant in the Spanish and foreign historiography. Besides the accuracy in the counting of the victims, as well as the intention to offer a conclusive number of them, these studies constitute a notable contribution to the main research lines developed for this particular topic in the last decade. Additionally, new debates have arisen from the effort to compare the Spanish case with other contemporary European experiencies, or to analyze Francoist violence with categories generally used to describe different episodes of violencie in the 20th century.
