Internet for senior citizens / אינטרנט לזקנים

סקירה זו מציגה את המידע המצוי בספרות על אינטרנט וזקנים. הסקירה פותחת בהצגת נתונים באשר להרגלי השימוש של זקנים במחשבים ובאינטרנט, ובתוך כך מתמקדת ביתרונות הטמונים בשימוש באינטרנט בקרב זקנים. לאחר מכן נדונה הבעייתיות של שימוש באינטרנט ובממשק אדם–מחשב (Human-Computer Interface (HCI בקרב זקנים, ובתוך כך מושם דגש על שלוש מערכות התפקוד העיקריות המשתתפות בהפעלת ממשק זה: התפיסתית, ההכרתית והתנועתית-תפקודית. בתיאור כל מערכת יימנו השינויים האופייניים לתהליך ההזדקנות ומשפיעים על ממשק אדם–מחשב, ובייחוד על ממשק אדם–מחשב דינמי ואינטראקטיבי כמו זה של האינטרנט, ויוצעו המלצות לפתרונות תצוגה בעבור משתמשים מבוגרים. כדי לבדוק את התאמתם של ממשקי אדם–מחשב דינמיים כדוגמת האינטרנט מבחינת סוגי תצוגה ותבניות הניווט המתאימים לאוכלוסייה המבוגרת יש להרחיב ולהעמיק את המחקר. יש להקדיש תשומת לב מיוחדת לעיצוב כולל של סביבת העבודה, לתכניות לימוד והדרכה ייעודיות, כולל תמיכה ועזרה ארוכת-טווח למשתמש המבוגר. היישום של ממצאי המחקרים הללו עשוי לסייע לזקנים בשימוש באינטרנט, מה שיתרום לרווחתם הכלכלית, האישית והחברתית ולרווחתה של הקהילה כולה. Computer technologies and the Internet are becoming an integrated part of our daily life, both in the work environment, the home, educational, commercial and health facilities, and for communication between people (e-mail, chats, virtual groups, etc). However, the benefits for old people depend on the adaptation of these technologies to their possibilities and on their willingness to use them This paper presents the information available in the literature on the Internet and the aging population. The problematics of Internet usage and the human-computer interface dynamic are discussed in the light of the changes in perceptual, cognitive and psychometric functions in older adults. Further research is needed in order to improve the design of human-Internet interface for the benefits of the elderly population. Special attention should be paid to designing the "Internet environment", including the working area, special teaching and training programs, long term support systems and even age-directed marketing and promotion. Such research could improve the use of Internet by the elderly population for the personal, economical and social benefits of the senior citizen and of the entire community.
