Zusammenfassung: | The Polish urban system has often been the object of national policies. During the state socialism period policies regarding the urban structure were inconsistent and characterized by wishful thinking as their impact was grossly overestimated. Nowadays, policies seem more realistic
as they anticipate a further polarization of the urban system. The latter trend seems unavoidable, as it is consistent with patterns of change observed in other transition countries. Nevertheless, Polish policy-makers seek a more balanced development in the long term. |
