BIOLOGY OF GESTATION AND INFANCY: FATHERLAND AND FRONTIER

A presentation of recent work in the biology of gestation & infancy through an analysis of some 200 items offered in a Bibliog. The literature on variables affecting prenatal & early postnatal growth offers promise for both practical control of healthy development & a theoretical understanding of the growth process. There has been, on repeated occasions, a recognition of the fact that the results of longitudinal studies often drastically modify conclusions drawn from short-term studies. Also, there has been a constant recognition of the value of an interdisciplinary approach, as recognized by Sir Frederick Hopkins some 30 vrs awo. I. Lananas.
