Selbstorganisation als Armutsbewältigung Zur Entstehung und Auflösung der Herforder Grabhilfen im 20. Jahrhundert

Based on quantitative and qualitative research on self-organization in local life-insurance (Westphalian region in the 20th century) the following aspects shall be discussed: the genesis of self-organization in the system-crisis, the critical role of the state and the big insurance companies, the impact of fundamental modernization on the final breakdown of solidarity networks and the factors of unsuccessfull and successfull management of social problems.
