Permian Ammonoids from Tunisia

Representatives of Agathiceras, Popanoceras, Peritrochia, Stacheoceras, and Cibolites are illustrated and described from the 5000-foot Permian section in the Djebel Tebaga area near Médenine in southern Tunisia; Pseudogastrioceras, Strigogoniatites, and Medlicottia have also been cited from this locality. These ammonoids indicate that the containing beds are late Middle Permian in age and that their fauna is closely related to that of the classic Sicilian Sosio limestones.
