Zusammenfassung: | Allochytridium expandens Salkin is a monocentric chytrid. The incipient sporangium enlarges from the germ tube and the sporangium has 1-3 discharge papillae or tubes which are distinctly operculate. Allochytridium expandens grows in media containing various sources of organic and inorganic nitrogen; glucose, galactose, cellobiose, cellulose (cellophane) and hemicellulose (xylan) are good sources of carbon. A suitable agar medium for demonstrating morphological characteristics contains peptonized milk, tryptone, and glucose. Zoospore ultrastructure demonstrates a close phylogenetic relationship to the polycentric genera Nowakowskiella and Cladochytrium. |
