Zusammenfassung:The career of Giovanni Antonio Dosio (1533-1610) spanned the entire second half of the sixteenth century and included major commissions in Rome, Florence, and Naples. Although we may place Dosio in the second rank of artists of the period, his patrons, the Farnese, the Gaddi, the Niccolini, and the Medici among others, were distinctly first class, and thus his works are likely to tell us a good deal about the taste, style, and attitude of the late cinquecento.
