Over the course of many decades, a new juridical system has been taking shape, distinct from the nation-states that up until the Second World War entirely coincided with Europe, as a political and legal entity. Indeed the last great European civil war marked the beginning of the construction of a transnational order whose juridical shape appears to be both original and problematic.
