Zusammenfassung: | As the extent and reach of coronavirus emerged globally, one of my first thoughts was about how other Black women had experienced and survived such pandemics in the past. I searched the literature for the experiences of Black women in the United Kingdom during the 1918–19 influenza pandemic. Not only could I not find any accounts or narratives written by Black women, but it appeared that although there has been a Black presence in Britain since Roman times (Fryer 2018) and there were Black communities in the United Kingdom in 1918, they had been written out of history.
