Nonetheless, published research in the field tends to be dominated by a small number of disciplines, not least human-computer interaction, psychology, medicine and archaeology. This is not to say that exciting work is absent outside these fields, just that perhaps it is not as widespread as it might be. In our own discipline of geography, for example, VR has drawn the attention of a surprisingly small number of researchers, despite its obvious power for exploring questions of space and place
