She criticized the pastor, the deacons, and the choir, and gave her neighbors a piece of her mind when it suited her. She was especially vocal in church conferences and had kept everyone in turmoil for about forty years. She didn’t like what the Woman’s Missionary Union was doing; she didn’t approve of the people who led the Training Union programs; and she thought the Sunday School superintendent was something less than perfect. The pastor, she hinted, worked none too hard.
