pottery of the medieval period, covering the Early Islamic, Crusader and Mamluk periods, is a relatively new topic of research in Middle Eastern archaeology. In light of the plethora of imported ceramic wares found at Crusader-period Acre, it is imperative to incorporate the study of the Acre assemblage into the broader context of the medieval pottery found in Israel and throughout the Mediterranean basin.
