Zusammenfassung:The chronological sequence and absolute dating of the Jericho cemetery are based on several factors: (1) tomb architecture; (2) stratigraphic location of the tombs; (3) artifacts found in association with these burials; (4) inscriptions on the ossuaries; (5) historical evidence. 1.Tomb Architecture. The layout of the Jericho rock-cut loculi tombs is identical with that of Jewish tombs of the Second Temple period uncovered in Jerusalem. Loculi tombs are well known from Syria and Egypt, as well as from several Nabatean sites dating from the first century BCE to the first century CE, and were probably adopted by Jews during the
