Beyond Jim Crow

The message of the Black Lives Matter movement encapsulates the racialized injuries of the 150 years since the end of legal American slavery. The movement’s message alerts us to the many ways in which black life has been devalued and unprotected so thoroughly in the United States. The discount rate on black humanity has been enormous.
