Zusammenfassung: | The inclusion of Carlos Gorostiza (Buenos Aires, 1920– ) in a volume dedicated to the theater in Latin America as an expression of revolt may seem open to question. Gorostiza is conventional in theme and technique, and when compared to younger and more controversial figures, such as Jorge Díaz, Griselda Gambaro, or José Triana, he certainly does not appear as revolutionary. Nonetheless, several of Gorostiza’s plays are landmarks in the early development of contemporary Argentine drama, and it is appropriate to accord him an important place among the initiators of the contemporary theater in Latin America.
