Zusammenfassung:Over the last two decades, international organizations (IOs) have become major data providers. This data is instrumental in supporting scientific research and shaping public policies. In this chapter, we discuss how statistical analyses of IO data can help answer important research questions, such as “what determines refugee flows?” We illustrate our argument by using data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).¹ By IO data, we refer to data that either has been collected directly by international organizations or has been assembled by IOs from a variety of sources (e.g., national statistical offices, specialized agencies) and made available
