Zusammenfassung: | Why is a cult of heritage taking place now and why did it not happen earlier in history in a similar manner? What meanings and ideological charges are embedded in, or surround, the concept of cultural heritage? What is the relationship between cultural heritage and other ideas, phenomena and conceptualisations pertaining to diversity in museums? By posing questions in this manner, I am signalling that, to some extent, this article is influenced by conceptual history in the spirit of Reinhart Koselleck.² But ultimately, of course, it concerns cultural politics and museums. Let me mention three points of departure.
