The Rememberer

We arrive at Ramona’s house late in the morning, before the heat of the day really picks up. The house is various shades of yellow. The steel shutters are open and so are the double front doors. A young girl, who introduces herself as a live-in nurse, meets us at the door. The nurse, who appears to be no older than fourteen, tells us to wait in the front room, a space barely big enough for the five of us. There are just enough seats, but no other furniture. She enters another room through a sheet hanging from an arch
