Zusammenfassung: | The fact that the American health care system is headed toward unsustainability at high cost that is nevertheless associated with variable quality and access has long been recognized (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013; Cheak-Zamora, Reid-Arndt, Hagglund, & Frank, 2012; Institute of Medicine [IOM], 2013; Keenan, 2014; Schoen et al., 2010). In addition, the health care system remains underprepared to serve people with disabilities (PWDs), among other underrepresented populations, as evidenced by a higher incidence of chronic health conditions and poorer health outcomes compared with people who do not have disabilities (Association of University Centers on Disabilities, 2016; Zack, 2013). |
