Zusammenfassung: | This collection explores the issue of supporting graduate student writers from two intersecting perspectives that constitute each part of the book: (1) the lived experiences of graduate students from historically marginalized groups and (2) research about strategies for “success.” Part 1: Voices narratives vividly illustrate the problem of isolation as a consequence of intensive research and writing tasks required at the graduate level. Loneliness, of course, typically characterizes the graduate school experience. However, it is felt more intensely by students representing demographic groups whose historical exclusion from institutions of power continues to systematically oppress them.
