Zusammenfassung: | I first became a member of the Blackfeet tribal council in 1954. I have been on the council since then, and I have watched things that have taken place. Prior to that time, I had listened to some of our elderly people. They were very cautious about new federal programs and alerted the council. They said, “You are going to be engaged in wars. But these wars will not be fought with guns, bows, and arrows. You are going to be fighting over documents.”
The Blackfeet tribe has been very careful. We have not contracted for very many federal programs. |
