An outward design support system to increase selfefficacy in online teaching and learning

The purpose of this article is to present an outward design for online support of a Webbased, summer program that has been implemented at a mediumsized, liberal arts university where studentinvolved learning is at the heart of the mission, and technology is an important part of the vision of the institution. Because a sense of personal agency or selfefficacy may be the most important determinant of motivation, the needs of both the teacher and learner need to be considered and integrated into the design and implementation of online support for teaching and learning.
