Zusammenfassung:An experimental study was made of the emission spectrum of a CO$sub 2$ laser with passive Q switching. It was found that the phase memory was retained from pulse to pulse, i.e., the emission spectrum was similar to the spectrum of a continuous amplitude-modulated signal. This should open up new applications of Q- switched lasers in coherent signal processing systems.
