Zusammenfassung:Selected topics in the theory of van der Waalls (vdW) interactions are examined in a review, based on a unified analytical approach, of recent investigations. Consideration is given to the interactions of atoms, molecules, and small condensed-matter particles at long range; vdW interactions of atoms with condensed-matter surfaces; the vdW component of the free energy of condensed matter; and the interaction between macroscopic objects.
