Zusammenfassung: | The membrane based assemblies that support gas diffusion electrodes in particular are at the heart of hydrogen fuel cells. The strategy of employing a membrane assembly with supported electrocatalysts can be extended to design photocatalytic membranes. The ion exchange property of a cation exchange membrane, Nafion, can be used to embed semiconductor nanoparticles (e.g., CdS, AgInS

). Similarly, bipolar membrane (BPM) can be employed to load the semiconductor photocatalyst on one side and metal electrocatalyst on the other side. The photocatalytic semiconductor/metal membrane between the two compartments of an H-cell, serves the dual purpose of generating hydrogen while separating the oxidation and reduction products. The talk will focus on preparing photocatalytic membrane and their effectiveness in solar fuel production. |
