Zusammenfassung: | Balbir Singh Katt, an eminent Indian stone carver of the modern era has always been credited for enrichment of the institutionalized ethos of monumental sculptures with a purified connotation tuned to post-colonial eclecticism. More than three decades (1970’s to 2000) during his career spanning, it was indeed amazing to see that how he continued his ‘sustained interest in handling large blocks’ invariably big boulders while many of his contemporaries preferred to do small or portable pieces for practical exigencies. This study investigates his artistic works and life in the domain of contemporary Indian Art. Through adopting qualitative research tools this paper explores in his artistic output in the context of monumental sculpture in public space in India. |
