Co-operative Higher Education is the Answer: How to Save Adult Education for the Last Time

If universities are in crisis as a result of neoliberal quasi-market reforms, the source of this problem also contains this solution: marketising reforms present scope for new kinds of provider, including Co-operative Higher Education (CHE), so permanently securing adult education. And where adult learners have suffered heavily due to how universities are run as specialist departments have closed, this article argues that they are also particularly well-placed to help establish Higher Education co-operative providing education responsive to student needs, where staff are treated equitably, and which is secured through accountable governance.
