Zusammenfassung:This article presents the main results of a study that analysed school segregation indexes in Catalan municipalities with more than 10 000 inhabitants, in pre-school, primary and obligatory secondary education. The study used linear regression models, taking advantage of the analytical potential of comparing schools sharing the same regulatory framework. The results reveal the importance of residential segregation and the private school sector in the intensity of school segregation, as well as the additive effect of these two factors. We also find a notable impact of other factors: the strength of local policies aimed at the detection and distribution of the most acutely vulnerable pupils, and the level of fragmentation of municipal education in small schools.
