Zusammenfassung:At the present more than 80% of the total amount of purchased radioactive compounds are used in clinical practice. The field is dominated by technetium coordination compounds. Increasing knowledge on the coordination, redox-reactions, and radiochemistry of this element was the basis for elaborating first rationales on the chemical reasons for the biolocalization of those compounds. This has stimulated the exploration of new 99m Tc-radiopharmaceuticals. A further acceleration of this fast growing field is expected.
