Zusammenfassung:The seasonal distribution of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the Nozha hydrodrome, a small freshwater lake, was investigated during 1969-70 and 1979-80 to show social and environmental effects on the quantities of DOM in this lake. The major portion of DOM was allochthonous, transported into the lake from the Nile. Some, however, was autochthonous, associated with biological processes. Generally speaking, the concentration of DOM has doubled at each location over ten years, and there was an accompanying decrease in the quantities of dissolved oxygen.
